Shangri-La Hotel, Toronto Expands Product Range With Honey From The B-Wall Urban Beehive

With one third of the earth’s food production in need of pollination, bees are crucial to the environment and food sustainability. With this in mind, Shangri-La Hotel, Toronto built the B-Wall in 2015 in partnership with Birks, Canada’s leading jeweler, and Alvéole, a Montreal-based organization that assists with beehive installation, maintenance and honey extraction.

The harvested honey is used in the hotel’s culinary creations including a seasonal B-Wall Afternoon Tea, custom cocktails, and B-Wall Honey Lager on draft. With this raw, unpasteurized, hyperlocal ingredient, Flying Monkeys Craft Brewery, brewed the hotel’s first batch of B-Wall Honey Lager in newly-designed 437-milliliter cans. Now, guests can enjoy the canned lager as an in-room amenity as well as in the comfort of their own home.

This holiday season, eco-friendly consumers can purchase a range of Alvéole and Shangri-La Hotel, Toronto specialty products including mini jars of home harvested honey, honey lip balm, honeysuckle soap and reusable beeswax food wrap. The products are available on the hotel’s new online retail store as well as in the hotel.
