Shangri-La Hotel Sydney’s Pink High Tea Supports Cancer Patients Through McGrath Foundation

To support Breast Cancer Awareness Month and raise funds for the McGrath Foundation, Shangri-La Hotel, Sydney offers the Pink High Tea at Blu Bar on 36 and Altitude Restaurant. Offered throughout October, the rosy-hued high tea includes lush desserts such as strawberry tart with diplomat cream and lychee foam as well as dainty savories and blushing pink scones, all served with the best view of Sydney Harbour and the city’s famous icons. Five Australian dollars (about USD4) from each high tea will be donated to the McGrath Foundation, which raises funds to support families affected by breast cancer.

The McGrath Foundation was started by Australian cricketer Glen McGrath, whose wife Jane tragically passed away from breast cancer in 2008. To date, funds raised have supported 90,000 families by providing 223,782 hours of McGrath Breast Care nursing from specially trained and experienced Australian nurses.

The special contribution of the McGrath Foundation in Australia is the access it provides to Breast Cancer nurses for free, and with no referral.

“The most important thing I do for my patients is ensure that they and their families feel supported, have timely access to care and get the right information as needed, helping them navigate their way through the often complex world of hospitals and cancer,” said Kerryn, a nurse at McGrath Breast Cancer.

Served Monday to Sunday at Blu Bar on 36, and Saturday to Sunday at Altitude, Pink High Tea is priced from AUD75 (about USD53). To book a seating at Shangri-La Hotel, Sydney’s Pink High Tea, click here.
