As frontline workers in London continue to navigate COVID-19 with heroism, the team at Shangri-La Hotel, At The Shard, London decided to spread love and cheer this Valentine’s Day by delivering 200 boxes of sweet treats to the dedicated staff of Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital.
Led by Kurt Macher, general manager, and Jeremy Brown, executive chef, the talented culinary team baked 200 Black Forest Cakes made with chocolate sponge, cherry mousse, kirsch and chocolate mousse, and Chocolate Tarts with Mandarin Jelly. Each individual chocolate tart was carefully made with decadent Valhrona chocolate and infused with rum, topped with a small mandarin jelly.
Clad in red and celebratory with heart-shaped balloons, Macher and hotel colleagues delivered the sweets to the hospital for Valentine’s Day.
“Valentine’s Day is traditionally a time of giving care and love to others, and the leadership team and I wanted to show a lot of heart by surprising our health care heroes of Guy’s and St. Thomas Hospital with sweet treats from our hotel to sweeten up their day during these difficult times,” said Macher.
Throughout as well as before the pandemic hit, Shangri-La Hotel, At The Shard, London has supported Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital through various charitable commitments, including bake sales, fundraisers, generous donations and more.
Thank you to Macher, Brown and the hotel team for spreading love and well wishes this Valentine’s Day.
