Shangri-La Group Donates Meals To Over 15,000 Medical Staff In China On International Nurses Day

To celebrate International Nurses Day 2020 on May 12 amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Shangri-La Group joined hands with Yihai Kerry, a subsidiary of Asia’s leading agribusiness group Wilmar International Limited, to launch the Cherish You initiative, a special program that provides local medical workers with meals in 39 cities across China. The initiative was created to show respect and gratitude to the frontline medics for their hard work and dedicated contribution to healing the sick and protecting public health during the fight against COVID-19.

The program brought together Shangri-La Group, Yihai Kerry and Delion as part of a collaborative outreach. Food materials were supplied by Yihai Kerry and delivered to hotels by Yihai Kerry and Delion’s logistics network. All 51 Shangri-La Group properties in mainland China supported the food preparation and delivery to local hospitals.

Over 2,040 staff volunteers from Shangri-La and Yihai Kerry actively participated in preparation work and delivery service. More than 15,500 healthcare workers from 63 local hospitals across 39 cities were recognized and presented with the special meal and thank-you message.
