Having good vision can be very important, especially for students. For some low-income families, the cost of glasses for their children can be prohibitive. As a result, some students find it challenging to read and learn in school.
Understanding their predicament and in line with Shangri-La Group’s commitment to education, Golden Sands Resort by Shangri-La sponsored nine underprivileged children from the National Secondary School with prescription glasses. Located in a small fishing village in Teluk Bahang - Glowing Bay, many of the school’s students come from low income backgrounds.
The school and local opticians conducted a vetting process with students, hosting eye examinations for participants. Recipients were issued their new prescription glasses, the cost of which was covered by the resort.
After being gifted better vision, the enthusiastic students expressed gratitude to the resort for enabling them to see well. The students can now read the blackboards and books with confidence, enhancing their learning capabilities and continued success in education.
