Canadian Hotels Are Positive Community Resources During Fight Against COVID-19

As COVID-19 affects the communities in which we operate, Shangri-La Group properties in Canada have extended helping hands as positive resources for our community members.

Shangri-La Hotel, Vancouver has supported its community by donating food supplies to Greater Vancouver Food Bank and Ray-Cam Cooperative Centre. The hotel will continue to support the organizations through volunteer opportunities. The hotel has also donated funds to Conquer COVID-19, which provides supplies to essential workers and the healthcare community, as well as linens to local organizations that will use the fabric to make reusable masks.

Shangri-La Hotel, Vancouver donated 200 masks to the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre, an organization that provides a safe environment for women who live or work in the Downtown Eastside. Shangri-La Hotel, Vancouver continuously supports medical professionals by preparing pre-packaged breakfast and coffee for St. Paul’s Hospital employees. The meals are available for pick up in the hotel lobby with strict procedures in place to ensure the health and safety of hospital workers and hotel colleagues. Shangri-La Hotel, Vancouver supports its community by donating bedsheets to organizations that makes and donates masks, raffling complimentary CHI, The Spa treatments to first responders and more.

Shangri-La Hotel, Toronto has supported Covenant House Toronto, which cares for at-risk youth in the community, by donating sanitation supplies, masks and non-perishable food items. To date, the hotel has donated five sanitizer stations, 100 kilograms of rice, 24 kilograms of beans, 18 kilograms of canned tomatoes and 9 kilograms of tuna. The hotel will continue to support the organization with monthly donations.

Shangri-La Hotel, Vancouver and Shangri-La Hotel, Toronto both show support for medical professionals, frontline workers and hospitality colleagues in the community by illuminating their facades with hearts and Shangri-La Hotel, Toronto’s famous The Rising sculpture with purple lights. Shangri-La Hotel, Toronto participates in the illumination initiative among Torontonian hospitality organizations.
