Every year on November 20, World Children’s Day raises awareness for the circumstances and welfare of children around the world. Originally established in 1954 as Universal Children’s Day, the observation shares its date with the ratification of two important global doctrines outlining rights for children – the UN General Assembly’s Declaration of the Rights of Children and Convention of the Rights of the Child. World Children’s Day 2019 marked the 30th anniversary of the Convention of the Rights of the Child.
The United Nations inspires action through its words: “It is up to our generation to demand that leaders from government, business and communities fulfill their commitments and take action for child rights now, once and for all. They must commit to making sure every child, has every right.”
