Establishments are rated based on seven major components, including:

  • Sustainability Sites: creation of erosion and sedimentation control plan for the reduction of pollution

  • Water Efficiency: management plan to best utilize water resources within the complex

  • Energy and Atmosphere: utilization of renewable energy sources to reduce greenhouse gas emissions

  • Material and Resources: involves recycling and waste management to reduce materials that would be disposed in landfills

  • Indoor Environmental Quality: implementation plan to elevate quality of indoor air ventilation

  • Innovation: uniqueness in design and seamless execution of above listed components

Shangri-La at the Fort, Manila falls under LEED’s Building Design and Construction (BD+C) category and was certified under the V2.2 rating process. The process distinguishes high-performance commercial and institutional projects including office buildings, high-rise residential buildings and more. The hotel received top marks in Water Efficiency, Indoor Environmental Quality and Innovation.

“It is an honor to achieve such a certification, and we would like to thank the LEED team for guiding us through the review and rating process,” said John Rice, area vice president operations (Philippines) and general manager at Shangri-La at the Fort, Manila.  “But more importantly, this highly contributes to an outward-looking and neighborhood-conscious perspective that we have been working towards from the very beginning.”

“The team is constantly working towards a more green-conscious mindset and perspective for the benefit of its surrounding neighborhood, Bonifacio Global City,” said Aencille Santos, communications manager at Shangri-La at the Fort, Manila.

Shangri-La at the Fort, Manila continues to innovate and implement CSR programs, including its recently-opened sustainable cake shop and bakery, Bake House.
