Shangri-La Cares For Elderly Citizens In Our Community

Shangri-La colleagues recognize the importance of caring for our community members. Throughout June, hotel colleagues supported elderly citizens in their local communities.

On June 11, Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore partnered with Lions Befrienders, an organization that cares for elderly citizens in Singapore and pairs them with companions for visits and outings.

Sixty hotel volunteers paired with 60 seniors from Lions Befrienders to tour the beautiful Gardens by the Bay and visit the world’s tallest man-made waterfall.

“The participants enjoyed a pleasant afternoon touring the biggest glass greenhouse in the world, the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest,” said Poh Gek Kwee, director of reservations at Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore. “Our beneficiaries and volunteers were met by the tallest man-made waterfall, and beautiful plants from different continents and flowers, lifting everyone’s mood, happiness, interacting and, most importantly, exercising together with seniors.”

On June 4, 17 Shangri-La Hotel, Yangzhou colleagues delivered rice dumplings and tea to the Xinsheng Elderly Home.

On June 19 and 20, Hotel Jen Shenyang colleagues visited a local nursing home to clean the facilities and celebrate residents’ birthdays.

Thank you to our colleagues who engaged with their local community members during June.
