Up, up and away! On March 9, Edsa Shangri-La, Manila and the Kythe Foundation, a non-profit organization that helps children with cancer and other chronic illnesses, hosted a “Kythe Flying” activity for children battling cancer. Led by Mr. Rudy Labata, a cancer survivor, alumni of Kythe Foundation and former trainee at Edsa Shangri-La, hotel colleagues organized games and crafts for the children. Each student was paired with a colleague who helped complete each activity.
“The children had fun as they visited the fun and exciting activities prepared for them,” said Pauline Rica De Leon, secretary to the resident manager at the hotel. “It was truly an amazing day that they won’t forget!”
The day continued with the featured event – kite flying. After the ceremonious flight of a 40 by 40 centimeter kite emblazoned with the hotel logo, the children enjoyed flying their own kites for the remainder of the afternoon.
“The good weather was a perfect day to fly kites in the oval field of Amoranto Sports Complex,” said Rica De Leon. “Nothing is more gratifying than to see the smiles of children battling such hardship.”
At the end of the day, each child took home a special plush toy gifted by the hotel.
