According to the World Health Organization, millions of people around the world do not have access to healthcare. Millions more are forced to choose between healthcare and other daily expenses. Spurred by the World Health Organization’s number one goal to achieve universal health coverage, World Health Day has been recognized every year on April 7 since 1950 to raise awareness for universal health.
With the 2019 focus, “Everyone, Everywhere,” check out how Shangri-La colleagues did their part on World Health Day to raise awareness in their communities.
Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta hosted a sanitation activity in the B-One colleague restaurant. Colleagues practiced proper handwashing techniques and how to effectively wash fruits and vegetables.
Shangri-La Hotel, Dubai celebrated with complimentary health checkups for all colleagues, including blood pressure testing, blood sugar testing, BMI index and eye exams. All colleagues received a voucher for a free cholesterol check.
Shangri-La’s Barr Al Jissah Resort & Spa, Muscat, Sultanate of Oman and Shangri-La’s Al Husn Resort & Spa, Muscat, Sultanate of Oman invited colleagues to participate in a blood drive.
“In just 20 minutes, your blood may make the difference between life and death,” said Ghislaine Le, resident manager of the resorts.
Colleagues from Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, Traders Hotel, Kuala Lumpur and the CEPT-Kuala Lumpur technical support team participated in a 5 KM Fit Walk. After exercising, colleagues enjoyed healthy refreshments and a raffle for a chance to win a king-sized bed.
Thank you to our colleagues around the world for raising awareness about global health and promoting healthy lifestyles.
