Established in 1954 by the United Nations, World Children’s Day is celebrated every year on November 20 to promote awareness for children worldwide and the importance of improving children’s welfare. Check out how our properties in Oman and Surabaya celebrated the observation.
On November 14, Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah Resort & Spa, Sultanate of Oman celebrated World Children’s Day early by hosting 63 children from local orphanages for lunch and a fun day at the resort. The children had a fun day full of games and playing in Al Mazaar, the children’s entertainment center. The day concluded with a lunch and beautiful cake prepared by the resort’s culinary team.
“Overall, it was a very happy day with us full of smiling faces,” said Ece Muratogly, social media manager of the resort.
On November 20, Hotel Jen Penang observed the special day with 17 children from the Special Children’s Centre (SCC), the hotel’s EMBRACE partner. Fourteen hotel volunteers led a fun and an educational trip to the Science Discover Centre, Penang’s first science center, where the children learned about microorganisms, made homemade yogurt while learning about live cultures, and built circuits during an electronic workshop.
“The children also had the rare opportunity to experiment and explore over 120 interactive scientific technology and exhibits,” said Ellie Yeoh, communications manager at the hotel.
Great job to our colleagues in Muscat and Penang!
