China World Hotel, Beijing Welcomes Runners From Around The World For 38th Annual Beijing Marathon

November 12, 2018

Every year, the Beijing Marathon hosts thousands of runners from across the world. On September 16, China World Hotel, Beijing supported the annual 38th Annual Beijing Marathon as the race’s official hotel for the third consecutive year.

To meet the needs of the runners from around the world and help them feel at home, China World Hotel’s concierge focused on the pillar of Our Community – global community, that is. The concierge prepared multi-lingual marathon training route maps, multilingual contact cards for runners to contact the hotel in emergencies, and healthy mineral water for each runner.

“We wanted to help the runners familiarize themselves with the destination as much as possible,” said Catherine Ye, director of communications at the hotel. “With guests from all around the world who are here for such a physically demanding activity, we were glad to help ease the culture transition for the runners.”

The food and beverage team prepared for runners with a seven-day countdown menu at Scene a Café. Leading up to and on the day of the marathon, the restaurant served healthy dishes and energy drinks high in protein and carbohydrates to fuel the athletes.

As the official Beijing Marathon VIP catering service provider, the food and beverage team prepared delicious Chinese dishes, local snacks and classic Asian, European and other dishes for the attendees.

“While the VIPs enjoyed the visual excitement of the competition, their taste buds were also full of joy and happiness,” said Ye.

During the marathon, colleagues from China World Hotel cheered on and handed out water to their fellow 15 colleagues who participated in the race.

At the end of the race, Alice Chou, resident manager of China World Hotel, welcomed runners back to the hotel with flowers and warm congratulations. The hotel was very excited to welcome back guests and marathon winners Dejene Debela Gonfra from Ethiopia, and Valary Jemeli Aiyabei from Kenya, who won the men’s and women’s races, respectively.

Thank you to our colleagues at China World Hotel for supporting the marathon and the athletes. Congratulations to our colleagues who participated in the marathon!
