In June 2018, Shangri-La announced a corporate partnership certifying Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) Chain of Custody for fish and seafood served at 53 Shangri-La and sister-brand properties in Mainland China and Hong Kong. Nineteen Shangri-La properties throughout China and Hong Kong supported this achievement with the MSC Seafood Promotion from August 9 to 19.
Diners enjoyed a myriad of sustainable seafood from 28 MSC seafood menus with 136 total MSC dishes, including 20 signature dishes created for the occasion. Chefs incorporated a total of 15 MSC-certified species of seafood in the dishes. Eighteen cooking classes were held to engage and teach guests, colleagues and media about the MSC partnership.
