Every year on July 29, International Tiger Day is celebrated to raise awareness for the protection of tigers’ natural habitats and increase awareness for tiger conservation.
To observe the special day, volunteers from Shangri-La Hotel, Surabaya visited the Surabaya Zoo on July 30 with kindergarten students from RA Nurul Huda 1, the hotel’s EMBRACE partner. During the visit, the students and volunteers learned about the threats facing tigers and their diminishing population.
After learning about the species, the students colored pictures of tigers and cut them out to create fun masks.
“Most of the kindergarten students have never been to the zoo,” said Cahya Bhinartka, CSR manager at the hotel. “Our goal was to show them the animals and provide early education and information about a species that is in danger. And of course, to commemorate International Tiger Day!”
Great work, Shangri-La Hotel, Surabaya!
