Shangri-La New York Regional Sales Office Hosts Rosé & Rooftops with Friends with Four Paws

It wasn’t a “ruff” evening in New York City with an Empire State Building view, rosé and CSR! On June 26, Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts regional sales office in New York City hosted clients and friends for a Rosé & Rooftops event at Maxwell’s Chophouse. Shangri-La colleagues from New York and properties around the world hosted luxury travel advisors to a fun summer evening with delicious food, drinks and fun. To enhance the event with CSR, Shangri-La partnered with Friends with Four Paws, a non-profit animal rescue organization that specializes in relocating and providing foster care for dogs and cats in New York City and Oklahoma.

“Instead of gifting branded items, we decided to make a donation on behalf of each attendee to Friends with Four Paws,” said Sam McDiarmid, director of luxury sales. “I picked Friends with Four Paws because they are local to New York City and use all the money for the cause. It’s the sort of cause everyone can get behind!”

During the event, clients and colleagues mingled over canapes and spirits, and had the chance to interact with two dogs, Bobby Jr. and Flint, from Friends with Four Paws and representatives from the organization.

"Friends with Four Paws is a small rescue run by an amazing and dedicated team of volunteers,” said Jenn Wehrung, events coordinator. “When we can partner with someone like Shangri-La, we are just so grateful for the support and the spotlight. Our dogs are transported monthly from Oklahoma to the New York City area and we are in desperate need of a new van. This is an amazing push toward that for us."

Through Friends with Four Paws, dogs and cats are rescued from local municipal shelters and the general public. Once the animals are in the program, they go to a foster family for several weeks, complete all of their veterinary work, and are listed for adoption. The transport program allows the organization to move dogs through the system fairly quickly, affecting as many lives as possible.

“I have been lucky enough to foster more dogs than I can count with the help of my own dog, Ripley,” said Wehrung. “It is such a necessary part of the process - it allows the dogs to bloom, to be their truest selves so we can match them with their best FUR-ever family.”

"It was so great partnering with Friends with Four Paws,” said Guenevere Domdom, director of business development, agency sales. “The dogs made a fun addition to an already great event!"

Thank you to the team at Friends with Four Paws for attending the event, and congratulations to the Shangri-La team on the successful event!
