Shangri-La Hotel, Sydney Hosts Second Annual Climb ‘N’ Dine Stair Challenge With The GO Foundation

September 24, 2017

Ready, set, climb! On October 29, Shangri-La Hotel, Sydney will host the second annual Climb ‘N’ Dine Stair Challenge in partnership with GO Foundation, which supports education for underprivileged Indigenous Australian youth in the country. The climb will challenge 200 athletes to walk or run the hotel’s 37 flights and 630 steps to the top of the hotel. After the race, climbers will refuel with a breakfast at the hotel’s Altitude restaurant while looking over Sydney Harbour and the iconic Sydney Opera House below.

Following a successful first year, the second annual Climb ‘N’ Dine race is a rewarding event for those seeking both a physical challenge and the opportunity to give back to the community. Proceeds from the race will go to the GO Foundation.

“The hotel is delighted and honored to partner with the GO Foundation to raise funds for the education of the Indigenous [Australian] youth in Australia and bring such an exciting sporting event to Sydney,” said Craig Hooley, the hotel general manager.

Founded by Michael O’Loughlin and Adam Goodes, the GO Foundation raises money to provide Indigenous Australian youth with primary school and university scholarships. The foundation currently supports 17 high school students at five independent schools in Sydney, two university scholarships at the University of New South Wales and the University of South Australia, and two alumni studying at the University of New South Wales.

The funds raised for the Climb ‘n’ Dine Stair Challenge will provide much-needed funds for public school scholarships and help the GO Foundation provide Indigenous Australian students with equal access and opportunities.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Shangri-La Hotel, Sydney in this exciting challenge,” said Michael O’Loughlin, co-founder of GO Foundation. “We are grateful for their support and promotion of the work we do at GO. Our public-school scholarship program is crucial and we are grateful to Shangri-La and all those participating in Climb ‘n’ Dine for the funds raised.”
