Shangri-La Hotel, Shenzhen Colleague Bowls for Bronze at Hong Kong Special Olympic Games

January 15, 2017

At Shangri-La, we celebrate guests’ and colleagues’ abilities inside and outside of the hotel. On November 24, Helen He, an employee at Shangri-La Hotel, Shenzhen’s staff canteen, participated in the bowling event at the Hong Kong Special Olympics. With superb play, Helen took home the bronze medal in the individual competition and the silver medal in the male and female mixed group competition.

Helen joined the staff canteen team at Shangri-La Hotel, Shenzhen after graduating from Shenzhen Yuan Ping Special Education School, which has been the hotel’s EMBRACE partner for the past six years. Through the partnership, the hotel offers students internships to train in different departments at the hotel. After outstanding performance throughout the program, the hotel hired Helen as a full-time colleague.

“Just like the quality and nature of all athletes, Helen is not satisfied with just reaching the bar,” said Baisa Li, digital marketing manager at Shangri-La Hotel, Shenzhen. “Instead, she always tries to attempt new challenges and go above and beyond. For example, she often assists in training and staff activities, and volunteers to help other colleagues who need assistance, even when she is off duty. We are proud to have her as member of the Shangri-La Hotel, Shenzhen family!”

Helen is a decorated bowler and has participated in many national and international competitions, including representing China in the Paralympic Games.

Congratulations to Helen and all those who competed in this year’s Hong Kong Olympic Games. We look forward to more friendly competitions and teamwork!
