Edsa Shangri-La, Manila Changes its Chocolate to Support the WWF Philippines

November 10, 2016

There are many health benefits to consuming chocolate. Edsa Shangri-La, Manila decided to take it one step further by including the benefit of positive CSR. On October 21, Edsa Shangri-La, Manila launched a limited edition line of The Bakeshop’s best-selling chocolate bar, The Rock, in partnership with World Wildlife Fund for Nature Philippines (WWF). The line includes four chocolate bars with distinct packaging showcasing the WWF’s logo of the beloved giant panda, giving a fresh, new look on The Bakeshop’s classic. The special line supports the four advocacies of the WWF, raising awareness through specially designed post cards dedicated to each cause – climate & energy, species, food and water.

Edsa Shangri-La, Manila’s designer bars are handcrafted and made with Belgian chocolate and premium ingredients. The Rock is made of all-natural white and dark chocolate, hazelnut and almond, with a secret recipe formulated in 2007. Guests can purchase the four chocolate bars at The Bakeshop for Php 345 (about USD7.13) each.  Ten percent of the proceeds from the limited edition chocolate sales will go to various conservation projects of the WWF Philippines.

The launch of The Rock was celebrated with an intimate afternoon tea hosted by Paul Loader, resident manager at the hotel, and Gigi Montinola, chairman of the board at WWF Philippines. The hotel welcomed other special guests including Jose Palma, CEO and president of WWF Philippines, Donald Lim, board of trustees member for WWF Philippines, Miriam Valero, vice president of marketing and corporate partnerships of WWF Philippines, and Rovilson Fernandez, Piolo Pascual and Marc Nelson, all WWF national ambassadors.

Thank you to the special guests who attended the launch party, and we hope Edsa Shangri-La, Manila’s guests enjoy the delicious chocolate while supporting a great cause.
