Shangri-La Hotel, Shenzhen Celebrates A Continued Partnership with the Shenzhen Yuanping Special Education School

At Shangri-La, we value continued hospitality from the heart in all aspects of our business, including in corporate social responsibility. Recently, Shangri-La Hotel, Shenzhen practiced this value by renewing its five-year CSR partnership with the Shenzhen Yuanping Special Education School.

 

From 2010 to 2015, hotel colleagues from different departments regularly visited the school to teach students hospitality skills. By the program’s conclusion, the hotel provided internship opportunities for 36 students and hired seven students. With the recent program renewal, colleagues at Shangri-La Hotel, Shenzhen will continue to help and educate the students through year 2020 and look forward to welcoming new colleagues to the team.

 

“It’s a pleasure to extend our friendly cooperation with Shenzhen Yuanping Special Education School and continue to support the students,” said George Baird, general manager at Shangri-La Hotel, Shenzhen. “We strive to make the hotel an ideal training base to enhance the employability of the students.”

 

“We appreciate the kindness and contribution the hotel conducts, and we hope the light of caring shines on our community to open the training and employment of students with disabilities,” said Mr. Huang, headmaster of the school.

 

To show the school’s appreciation, Mr. Huang presented Baird with a trophy and “Fu” painting, which represents success and good fortune.

 

The students expressed their gratitude by preparing certificates and flower bouquets for hotel colleagues who helped throughout the program.

 

To conclude the day, Baird and Mr. Huang signed the second five-year cooperation agreement to continue the successful partnership from 2016 to 2020.

 

We would like to thank the students and teachers Shenzhen Yuanping Special Education School, the management team at Shangri-La Hotel, Shenzhen, our hotel colleagues who helped train the students from 2009 to 2015 and those who will continue to train students throughout the next five years.
