Every year on January 26, Republic Day in India honors the ratification of the nation’s constitution in 1950. Four months after its grand opening, Shangri-La Hotel, Bengaluru celebrated the national holiday by inviting 18 children from Angels Orphanage for a special breakfast event at the hotel’s b Café.
The children arrived in style chauffeured in luxury hotel cars to a VIP welcome. Upon arrival, the children honored the nation’s progress since 1950 with a flag-hoisting ceremony. As a thank you for their help, the human resources team gifted each child a box of chocolates.
Continuing the celebrations, the hotel treated the children to breakfast in b Café, the hotel’s live theater kitchen restaurant. Jens Corder, general manager of the hotel, and other colleagues dined with the children over freshly-prepared breakfast dishes, pastries, juice and more.
This is the hotel’s third time working with Angels Orphanage, a volunteer-run home for orphaned and abandoned children in Bangalore, India. Prior to the hotel’s opening, hotel colleagues visited the orphanage, donated books and food and arranged interactive activities with the children after school.
Our colleagues at Shangri-La Hotel, Bengaluru look forward to working with Angels Orphanage in the future, and we look forward to seeing the relationship grow!
