Some wishes really do come true, especially with the help of our dedicated colleagues at Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore. Recently, the hotel sponsored the annual Make-A-Wish Donor Appreciation Ceremony for Make-A-Wish Foundation Singapore. Leading up to the event, the foundation informed the hotel of Megan, a five-year old girl diagnosed with leukemia, whose wish was to have a baking session with her friends, followed by a bake sale in which all funds raised would be donated to charity.
Touched by such a caring wish, the hotel's pastry team planned and executed a fun session for Megan to bake cookies with her friends.
Megan cheerfully prepared and baked the cookies with assistance from Chef Ingrid from the hotel pastry team. When Megan’s friends arrived, they spent the afternoon decorating the cookies.
Rather than selling the cookies at a simple bake sale, the Make-A-Wish Donor Appreciation Ceremony auctioned off the cookies at the well-attended event. The auction of the cookies alone raised a total of SG $1,934 (about US $1,383.60).
"I really enjoyed my baking session at Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore and I am glad to be able to share the cookies with Make-A-Wish donors and volunteers,” said Megan. “Thanks!"
Congratulations to the team at Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore for helping make Megan’s sweet wish come true.
