Recently, Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong helped its community shine a light on children when it hosted Heep Hong Society’s third annual fundraising event, Shine Like A Star. Over 420 guests attended the charity dinner, which set a new fundraising record by raising over HK $4.2 million (about US $541,781) for the Heep Hong Society’s Children Training Fund. All proceeds will go toward 700 children in need of pre-school rehabilitation services.
The night featured a live auction in which six luxury items were auctioned off by esteemed auctioneer Brian Hodgson from Hong Kong Auctions Limited. A hand-painted 3D star sculpture that was designed and created by the children of Heep Hong Society was one of the most popular auction items, selling for HK $170,000 (about US $21,929).
The festivities continued with renowned Taiwanese singer Richie Jen and children from the Heep Hong Society entertaining guests with an unforgettable performance.
Apart from providing the venue and catering for the evening, Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong also donated a five-course dinner with wine pairings at Restaurant Petrus for the auction.
