Housekeeping Gives Very Important Patients the Five-Star Treatment in Surabaya

November 2, 2015

Recently, Shangri-La Hotel, Surabaya participated in International Housekeeping Week by competing in a local housekeeping competition and taking their skills to those in need. To give back to their community, hotel housekeepers visited the East Java Care Cancer Kids Foundation (YKAKI), a shelter for children diagnosed and recovering from cancer, to give the patients some well-deserved VIP treatment.

During the visit, colleagues donated amenities, stationaries and towels, and extended full five-star turn-down service for the patients’ bedrooms. The sheets were neatly tucked, pillows lightly fluffed and towels expertly folded into fun animals.

“The Housekeeping Department is the backbone of any hotel,” said Martin Brenner, general manager at Shangri-La Hotel, Surabaya. “This week, we really took the time to recognize the tremendous contribution of our housekeeping teams, and we did it in a way that was not only fun and exciting, but also gave them a chance to show what they could do internally, and externally as a CSR activity.”

Thank you to the housekeeping team at Shangri-La Hotel, Surabaya, for making the children’s day a little brighter.
