Hotels Make A Difference During Mid-Autumn Festival

Every year on the fifteenth day of the eighth lunar month, Mid-Autumn Festival is celebrated as a traditional Chinese festival for family reunions. This year, the festival falls on September 27, and many of our hotels are celebrating in charitable ways.

Recently, colleagues from Shangri-la Hotel, Guangzhou visited the Supporting Centre for Families with Financial Difficulty in Haizhu District during a charitable initiative led by Vicky Tan, director of government affairs at the hotel. The hotel's team gifted 300 boxes of mooncakes to families at the center to spread warmth prior to the festival. According to Tan, the initiative was a success and the families were thankful for the gifts.

Other hotels are also getting into the spirit of giving through mooncake gift set sales. In Taiwan, both Shangri-La’s Far Eastern Hotel, Tainan and Shangri-La’s Far Eastern Hotel, Taipei are selling the “Exquisite Charity Mooncake Gift Box” for charitable causes. The mooncake flavors in the gift box feature local flavors in four mooncakes including: Taiwan’s Chushan sweet potato, Guanziling, Tainan’s dried longan, Dachia taro and other local ingredients.

For each gift box sold at Shangri-La’s Far Eastern Hotel, Tainan, NT$100 (about US $3) will be donated to the children at the Tainan Center of the Taiwan Fund for Children and Families. At Shangri-La’s Far Eastern Hotel, Taipei, NT$100 (about US $3) will be donated to a local charity, the SOS International Children’s Village.

We would like to thank these and other Shangri-La hotels and resorts that are engaging in charitable causes during the season. Happy Mid-Autumn Festival!
