Recently, Jing An Shangri-La, West Shanghai sponsored the regional Bike Angels initiative to help children ages 12 to 17 develop life-long skills through cycling. The Bike Angels cycling event started with their preparation in Shanghai, then took off on their long distance cycling trip from Shanghai to Xiamen. The trip covered a total of 1,250 kilometers (about 777 miles) in 20 days.
As the official hotel sponsor of the initiative, Jing An Shangri-La, West Shanghai provided rooms and meals for the cyclists, organizers and volunteers during their six day stay in Shanghai. From the media press conference to daily bicycle training, all activities leading up to the departure day were held at the hotel.
Bike Angels aims to help children from low-income families learn the positive values of teamwork, endurance and perseverance. With these traits, the organization hopes to inspire, boost self-confidence and motivate the children to strive for their goals in life.
