Recently, Jing An Shangri-La, West Shanghai hosted its first Climb for Hope Vertical Fun Run to raise money for a local children’s hospital. The event hosted over 300 participants, including 229 runners and 100 volunteers. The hotel’s race embraced its sister hotels, with runners and volunteers from Pudong Shangri-La, East Shanghai and Kerry Hotel, Pudong Shanghai participating in the event.
“It was a fun run event where it was about participation,” said Jason Stinson, resident manager at the hotel. “Everyone was a winner and received a gold medal on the day!”
While the hotel awarded all participants for their effort, a group of elite runners led the pack up the tower. The runners started in the lobby of Tower 3 and climbed 60 flights of stairs to the top floor of the hotel, where a celebration lunch awaited.
Professional Runner John Paul McCarthy came in first place with an impressive time of 10 minutes and 45 seconds. Close behind in second and third place were Jing An Shangri-La, West Shanghai’s own bell hops, Justin and Henry.
The hotel raised a total of RMB 45,800 (US $7,375) through registration fees, which was donated to the Shanghai Children’s Medical Centre. Congratulations to our colleagues in Shanghai for the successful event.
