Shangri-La Hotel, Bengaluru Embraces CSR Before Opening

Shangri-La colleagues all over the world are committed to the group’s Sustainability program, even before hotels and resorts officially open. Whether working with local organizations or organizing environmental clean ups, our colleagues are eager to show their dedication to CSR and their community.

Before the hotel opens in 2015, 22 colleagues at Shangri-La Hotel, Bengaluru joined together to volunteer at the Association of People with Disability (APD) campus. The initiative served as a way for colleagues to give back to their community and unify as a team in the spirit of CSR.

During the visit, colleagues volunteered by gardening in the campus’ greenhouse, packaging organic manure and learning about the benefits of horticulture with members of the APD.

Following the outdoor activities, colleagues held a painting competition with members of the organization. The competition was based on gardening and focused on the appreciation for nature. Colleagues also created skits to drive awareness about cleanliness and hygiene.

Lastly, the hotel sponsored a meal for all APD members and donated 200 kilograms of newspaper to the campus, which the organization’s members will sell to raise funds for new hearing aids.

Shangri-La Hotel, Bengaluru looks forward to a lasting partnership with APD, and we can’t wait to see what good comes from it.
