Sanctuary in Xian: Helping Preserve Local Habitats

July 30, 2015

Shangri-La hotels and resorts around the world are committed to helping save and preserve their local environment. Sanctuary, Shangri-La’s Care for Nature Project aims to make a concerted effort towards biodiversity conservation and habitat protection. Hotels around the world work on individualized projects which are developed, tracked and monitored after a biodiversity assessment.

Both Shangri-La Hotel, Xian and Golden Flower Hotel, Xian partner with Shaanxi Zhouzhi National Nature Reserve, one of 40 Class A reserves in China, to preserve land where many animals live, including the endangered panda and golden monkey. Recently, hotel colleagues volunteered at the reserve and donated 100 backpacks with valuable patrolling tools to help the rangers in their daily and nightly tasks. According to the hotel, the rangers were very appreciative of the donation and will utilize them regularly.

Thank you to our colleagues in Xian for supporting the reserve, and to the rangers at the reserve who help protect our environment and wildlife.
