Recently, Shangri-La Hotel, Dalian held its second Run for STAR Child to help raise awareness for children with autism in the community and fundraise for the local Little Dolphin Autism School. Over 150 children, adults and teachers from the Little Dolphin Autism School participated in the day-long event full of fun races, treasure hunts, food and charity sales.
Dorian Rommel, general manager at Shangri-La Hotel, Dalian, began the day welcoming participants and families during an opening ceremony.
The 10K participants got the event off to a running start with the men’s and women’s races.
The 10K races were followed by a 5K Exploration Race for children and their families, which included a treasure hunt throughout the course.
The treasure hunt led participants through a nearby nature walk and obstacle courses that were set up by colleagues from Shangri-La Hotel, Dalian.
After the events, the top winners in the 10K men’s race, women’s race and 5K exploration race received trophies and hotel vouchers.
Following the activities, colleagues from the hotel held a barbecue, wine tasting and charity sale of arts and crafts, which were made by students from the Little Dolphin Recovery Centre. Students from the Dongbei University of Finance and Economics also volunteered throughout the event and performed dances for entertainment throughout the barbecue.
From the event, Shangri-La Hotel, Dalian raised a total of RMB18,000 (about US $2,898) for the Little Dolphin Recovery Center. Congratulations to Shangri-La Hotel, Dalian for its second successful Run for STAR Child, and we look forward to the third.
