Sixteenth birthdays are highly celebrated milestones in many cultures. In August 2014, Pudong Shangri-La, East Shanghai turned the big 16 and celebrated in a big way! After celebrating with traditional cake and candles, the hotel brought the party out to its surrounding community, thanking the community for its continued support of the hotel.
Pudong Shangri-La, East Shanghai kicked off the celebrations by offering over 1,600 portions of “Long Life Noodles” to taxi drivers serving the Lujiazui area as a token of the hotel’s appreciation for their hard work and dedication within Shanghai.
The celebration didn’t end there! The hotel ran a social media campaign to raise money for children at a local hospital. For each birthday song sung to the hotel and posted on social media, the hotel committed to donate RMB16 (about US $2.57) to six children suffering from leukemia in Fudan Unviersity Hospital. By the end of the birthday celebration, Pudong Shangri-La, East Shanghai raised over RMB 12,700 (about US $2,037) for the children!
After the hotel celebrated its sixteenth birthday, we can’t wait to see how the hotel celebrates when it turns 20!
