At Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort & Spa, Cebu, the resort’s management and staff participate in regular coastal clean-ups, dive clean-ups and coral recovery programs. The Shangri-La Marine Sanctuary, officially established in 2007, spans six hectares from the resort’s beachfront. It teems with over 160 species of fish, clams and coral.
Two sunken ships form artificial reefs and encourage coral and fish proliferation. With the help of steward partners Amores Charities, Inc. and Scotty’s Action Sports Network, continued preservation of the hotel’s natural wildlife will allow guests to enjoy the marine life for years to come!
