Cleaning Oceans for Marine Life to Return Home

July 3, 2014

As some of our hotels and resorts are located along coastal shores, we take it upon ourselves to keep the surrounding environment healthy and safe for guests as well as wildlife. The team at Shangri-La’s Tanjung Aru Resort & Spa, Kota Kinabalu implemented a marine conservation and coral planting program to assist with the preservation and protection of the Tunku Abdul Marine Park.

Overseen by the resort’s marine biologist, the project takes place at the STAR Marina and involves guided snorkeling tours, coral planting and local awareness programs for schools and the local communities in the area. With the help of our colleagues and the local communities, we hope to create a healthy environment that will encourage more marine life make the waters of Kota Kinabalu their home.
