Shangri-La Properties In MEIA Region Support Medical Professionals During Crisis

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, organizations have supported healthcare professionals and essential workers by donating meals and medical supplies. To show our support for medical professionals in our communities, Shangri-La Group properties in the Middle East, India, Indian Ocean, Europe and Americas region have initiated CSR projects to help as resources during this time of need.


Shangri-La Hotel, Paris supported dedicated medical professionals in its community by preparing and donating meals to local hospitals. Shangri-La Hotel, Paris colleagues with children also encouraged their little ones to draw artwork for hospital staff and elderly patients to brighten their days. To address the hospitals’ blood supply shortage, colleagues volunteered to donate blood through Association Laurette Fugain, the hotel’s CSR partner.


Also in Europe, Shangri-La Hotel, At The Shard, London donated packaged treats to dedicated medical professionals at Guy’s Hospital and donated towels to London Ambulance Services.


In the Maldives, Shangri-La’s Villingili Resort & Spa, Maldives donated 200 face masks and 200 sets of gloves to local healthcare workers. During Ramadan, Hotel Jen Malé, Maldives prepared Iftar meals for frontline and essential workers.


Since March 3, colleagues at Shangri-La Hotel, Bengaluru have provided daily meals for 200 healthcare workers at Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital. Also in India, Shangri-La’s – Eros Hotel, New Delhi colleagues provided food to dedicated workers and patients at the Handicapped Children’s Regeneration Organization (HCRO).


As a symbol of gratitude for medical professionals, police force, government personnel and essential workers fighting on the front lines, Shangri-La Hotel, Bengaluru lights its façade in the shape of a heart. The heart is lit every Saturday and Sunday from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. to show solidarity during this difficult time.


Shangri-La Group Canadian hotels Shangri-La Hotel, Toronto and Shangri-La Hotel, Vancouver also show support to hospital workers and first responders by lighting guestrooms in the shape of a heart. The illuminated designs can be seen throughout the destinations, while the hope and support can be felt in community members’ hearts.


Shangri-La Hotel, Vancouver donated unused sheets to a local charitable organization, which will use the material to make masks for local healthcare workers.
