Shangri-La Promotes Healthy Lifestyles On Global Wellness Day 2020
Every year on the second Saturday of June, participants around the world celebrate Global Wellness Day and its mission - “One day can change your whole life.” To celebrate, Shangri-La and sister brand properties around the world will encourage colleagues, guests and members of the communities to embrace healthy lifestyles on Global Wellness Day.

Mainland China and Hong Kong
Shangri-La Hotel, Baotou hosted fitness activities and served healthy snacks in the garden. Participants enjoyed yoga, boxing, dancing and more.
Hotel Jen Beijing’s Trainyard staff hosted a salsa dance for guests and colleagues. Participants enjoyed healthy low-calorie ice cream after the fun dancing session.
Shangri-La Hotel, Chengdu organized a Family Summer Carnival with activities such as a family cooking class, family water polo, paddle board yoga and obstacle courses.
Shangri-La Hotel, Guangzhou celebrated Global Wellness Day with family-friendly activities including children’s yoga and a game of soccer. Energizing and healthy treats were prepared and served by Executive Chef Ilango and the culinary team.
Shangri-La Hotel, Guilin hosted a full day of activities for guests and colleagues including a Water Fitness Party for guests and staff. Participants enjoyed various water activities such as a Water Dance, Fight on the Floating Blanket, Yoga Over The Water and more. The hotel team served health drinks and snacks to make the day more meaningful.
Shangri-La’s Sanya Resort & Spa, Hainan organized outdoor exercises, healthy snacks and more. Chefs taught young guests how to make sushi and healthy milkshakes, as well as had fun in the sun at the resort’s water park. Colleagues participated in the global occasion during a jogging session at dusk.
Shangri-La Hotel, Hangzhou colleagues enjoyed a relaxing yoga session followed by healthy snacks and drinks.
Shangri-La Hotel, Huhhot organized an aerobic exercise session for colleagues to promote healthy activities.
Shangri-La Hotel, Nanjing hosted a fun and physically-demanding yoga session for colleagues. Led by the hotel’s Yoga Master Bai Bai, the session integrated a yoga ball to make the exercise more difficult.
Futian Shangri-La, Shenzhen hosted colleagues to a morning exercise session followed by healthy breakfast and healthy drink-making session led by the hotel’s culinary team.
Kerry Hotel, Hong Kong Pastry Chef Po taught team members how to make healthy chocolate ball snacks packed with energy, while Sports Manager Liam organized an exercise activity for colleagues.
Shangri-La’s Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa, Penang and Golden Sands Resort, Penang spread joy and promoted good health on Global Wellness Day with children from underprivileged backgrounds. Partnering with Crystal Family Home, which supports orphans in Penang, the resorts hosted a virtual exercise session followed by haircuts to promote good hygiene.
Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort & Spa, Cebu’s culinary team prepared healthy muffins made with granola, almonds and raisins as well as nutritious dinner dishes. Colleagues distributed the dishes to frontline workers at local hospitals and checkpoints in the city.
Shangri-La at the Fort, Manila’s Kerry Sports Manila hosted three live workout classes on its social media platforms, including a difficult high intensity interval training workout led by Coach Ericka San Juan, a 20-minute core and abs session led by Coach Ronald de Leon, and a 45-minute yoga flow led by Anna Manalastas.

Shangri-La’s Rasa Sentosa Resort & Spa, Singapore celebrated Global Wellness Day virtually with a high intensity interval training session on YouTube. Led by Leo, a member of the resort’s Fun Team, the session led participants through a rigorous workout that promoted healthy and active lifestyles.
Shangri-La’s Far Eastern Plaza Hotel, Taipei hosted its yearly Run-Up Charity Event with a virtual twist. Due to COVID-19, the hotel encouraged runners from the hotel and Novo Nordisk Pharma Taiwan to participate in the 5K@ADA Virtual Challenge on treadmills. This ensured a safe and healthy activity for all.
