Updated: Jan 31
Ready, set, walk! On August 4, over 150 colleagues in Singapore participated in the four-kilometer Community Chest Heartstrings Walk 2019. Organized by Community Chest and Marina Bay Sands, the walk unites community members and partners to raise funds for the National Council of Social Services in Singapore. Proceeds from the event benefit community members with physical and mental disabilities, children with special needs, at risk youth, and families and seniors in need.
“Aligning with our causes under the EMBRACE charter, the National Council of Social Services in Singapore ensures that every person has the opportunity to live a life with dignity within a caring and inclusive society,” said Angeline Chan, executive of Singapore corporate communications.
Colleagues from all four properties in Singapore – Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore, Shangri-La’s Rasa Sentosa Resort & Spa, Singapore, Hotel Jen Orchardgateway Singapore and Hotel Jen Tanglin Singapore – and the Singapore corporate office participated in the meaningful event.
“I had a lovely Sunday morning with beautiful ambience and a warm crowd,” said Joyce Lim, secretary of housekeeping at Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore. “I think this was a great event that allowed me to have a good bonding time with family and colleagues, all in the name of supporting our beneficiaries.”
“It was a great way to spend a Sunday morning,” said Darren Lim, director of human resources at Shangri-La’s Rasa Sentosa Resort & Spa, Singapore. “It was fulfilling to support the worthy cause Community Chest in the iconic location Marina Bay, with so many of my Shangri-La friends and family!”
“We had great fun participating as one Shangri-La family in the walk amidst carnival atmosphere all for a great cause,” reminisced Alfie Tjen, assistant manager of social media marketing at Hotel Jen Tanglin Singapore.
“It was a simple way to support a great cause and at the same time, a fabulous way to introduce my dog to my colleagues, while bonding with my team at work,” said Marlene Fang, director of sales and marketing at Hotel Jen Orchardgateway Singapore.
Thank you to our colleagues in Singapore for representing Shangri-La Group during the meaningful event.
