Ride for Hope 3 and Ai You Morning Star Project Aid Children With Hip Dislocation Diseases
In 2018, 30 Shangri-La hotels in China initiated Ride for Hope 3 across 68 cities, which raised RMB5.7 million (about USD829,392) to benefit the Ai You Foundation Morning Star Project. The program supports children with developmental hip dislocation diseases. The funds raised through Ride for Hope 3 will support at least 150 orphaned and financially disadvantaged children who require hip surgeries.
In 2019, the Ride for Hope 3 funds benefited young patients who required hip surgeries, including Xiao Mei, a four-year-old girl from Diqing in Yunnan Province. In June 2019, Xiao Mei successfully underwent hip surgery at a hospital in Nanjing.
Following the surgery, Melinde Lim, general manager of Shangri-La Hotel, Nanjing, and colleagues from the hotel visited Xiao Mei in the hospital. To cheer Xiao Mei up after surgery, the smiling group arrived with cookies and toys. The team also arranged VIP airport access for the young patient and her family to avoid queues and provide a more comfortable travel experience for her journey home.
“Our community efforts will continue to bring smiles to these children and their families for years to come,” said Lim.
As of June 2019, over 30 children have undergone surgeries funded by the Ai You Foundation Morning Star Project and Ride for Hope 3.
Thank you to our dedicated colleagues in China who helped organize and facilitate Ride for Hope, and for all who continue to help these children live happier and healthier lives.
