Shangri-La Properties Embrace Children In Our Communities
At Shangri-La, our colleagues understand the importance of uplifting youth in our communities. Check out how Shangri-La colleagues in China engaged with children in our communities during June.
On June 3, 80 colleagues from Midtown Shangri-La, Hangzhou visited the Yuhang Sunshine School, the hotel’s EMBRACE beneficiary that teaches children with hearing and speech impairments, to deliver new school bags and supplies. Colleagues continued the day by playing games and decorating cookies with the students.
Since 2018, Midtown Shangri-La, Hangzhou has supported the Yuhang Sunshine School and has sponsored over 10 children’s cochlear implant operations.
On June 20, colleagues from Shangri-La Hotel, Wuhan visited a local welfare center to read and play with children from underprivileged areas.
“The kids and staff are already familiar with one another,” said Jean Liu, communications manager at Shangri-La Hotel, Wuhan. “At this point, we are all one big family.”
On June 25, Shangri-La Hotel, Haikou partnered with Sicilia Bar, an organization that promotes music education, to host a music education activity at the Dongcang Primary School in rural Haikou.
“The school is located in the countryside and has a lack of music education,” said Iona Mao, communications manager at Shangri-La Hotel, Haikou.
Sicilia Bar and hotel volunteers provided musical instruments and lessons, in addition to fun prizes and an afternoon tea break.
“The students said they were very happy and learned a lot from this activity,” said Mao.
