Shangri-La Hotel, Colombo Signs Memorandum Of Understanding With Boys Industrial Home
In line with Shangri-La’s commitment to supporting education and health programs in underprivileged communities, Shangri-La Hotel, Colombo signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Boys Industrial Home and Orphanage of Sri Lanka (BIH). Established in 1890, the BIH provides shelter, food and education to boys from troubled backgrounds.
“At Shangri-La Hotel, Colombo, we recognize that our social responsibility also includes providing opportunities to the underprivileged through training in hotel skills that may allow them employment within the short to medium term,” said Timothy Wright, the hotel’s general manager.
“This MoU aims to strengthen the cooperation between the two entities to achieve their monthly objectives and goals, with special focus on a capacity-building program for the residents on a monthly basis for education, the residents’ operation expenses and renovating the existing facility, which houses 30 students,” continued Wright.
Thank you to Shangri-La Hotel, Colombo for committing to the BIH. We hope the partnership provides a bright future for the residents of BIH.
