Shangri-La Properties in China Celebrate Arbor Day
Every year on March 12, Arbor Day (China) brings awareness to national and local forestation projects and supports the environment by encouraging tree planting activities throughout the country. Check out how our colleagues in China celebrated the important day.
In 2018, Shangri-La Hotel, Xiamen adopted 50 trees in the Xiamen Botanical Garden to support the local environment and help preserve the city’s natural beauty. On Arbor Day, the hotel continued its commitment to the Xiamen Botanical Garden when 80 hotel colleagues and their family members helped weed, fertilize and water the trees.
“It is not only a good practice for team building, but also taking care of our environment,” said Lucy Wang, communications manager at Shangri-La Hotel, Xiamen.
On March 12, Cliff Tan and Lily Zhang, resident manager and director of government affairs, respectively, led 46 staff members from Shangri-La’s Sanya Resort & Spa, Hainan to plant trees at the Sanya Forest Farm. During the three-hour activity, colleagues planted 68 scented rosewood trees.
“Arbor Day is an observation full of hope, imagining the strength and spirit of the saplings growing up, and feeling the positive courage to push upward like trees,” said Cliff Tan, resident manager of Shangri-La’s Sanya Resort & Spa, Hainan. “This is such a meaningful event and we look forward to the saplings growing into tall trees and adding more green to our community. Our efforts today will result in boundless forests in our future.”
Twenty-nine volunteers from Shangri-La Hotel, Qingdao helped plant 245 saplings around the hotel.
Thank you to our colleagues in Xiamen, Hainan Island and Qingdao for supporting Our Environment on Arbor Day.
