Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur Says “No” To Plastic Bottles
According to Forbes, humans buy one million plastic bottles per minute globally, and a staggering 91% of all plastic is not recycled. By 2020, the world is on track to sell over half a trillion plastic bottles, correlating to more plastic waste. To play its part to combat the issue of single-use plastic, Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur ceased offering plastic water bottles in its fitness and spa facilities. From October 1, guests can hydrate with refreshing still water and infused water from glass containers and paper cups.
“As a brand that continuously seeks ways to create positive change, the effort to switch out plastic water bottles with glass dispensers and paper cups is just one of the many plans Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur has implemented to achieve the goal of becoming plastic free,” said Chan Su Min, communications coordinator.
Beyond the fitness center and spa, the hotel is in the process of procuring reusable bottles to sell to guests.
