Shangri-La Resorts In Oman Compete In The Muscat Inter-Hotels Challenge On World Food Day

At Shangri-La, our colleagues know that working together is always better than working alone. In the spirit of giving, colleagues from Shangri-La Bar Al Jissah Resort & Spa, Sultanate of Oman and Shangri-La Al Husn Resort & Spa, Sultanate of Oman participated in the Muscat Inter-Hotels Challenge, a competitive food drive in partnership with five hotels in Muscat. Organized by Al Bustan Palace, a Ritz-Carlton Hotel, teams from different properties in the region competed in a fun 10-minute grocery shopping contest to fill 145 boxes of non-perishable goods. The food collected will be donated to Dar Al Atta’s Charity Association, which supports underprivileged families in Oman.

Prior to the event, each hotel hosted fundraising activities for the association. Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah Resort & Spa and Shangri-La Al Husn Resort & Spa, Sultanate of Oman raised the most money for the organization with RO2,000 (about USD5,195) through a series of charitable initiatives, including on-property coin donations. The resorts also offered special experience vouchers to guests, from which a portion was donated to the cause.

“During the grocery shopping race, our team collected 456 materials and finished the race first,” said Ece Muratoglu, social media manager.
