Shangri-La Hotel, Yangzhou Celebrates Spring With CSR
Shangri-La Hotel, Yangzhou had a busy month of April full of CSR. Check out some of their activities below.
On April 14, the hotel held a fundraiser for the Northern Jiangsu People’s Hospital with a special Yangzhou Garden Breakfast event. The hotel invited 130 guests from surrounding cities and the local community to a traditional Yangzhou breakfast, which included steamed buns and dumplings, poached shredded bean curd with dried shrimp and ginger, and crispy sesame cake with dried meat floss. The traditional breakfast was made more special by the surrounding environment of the hotel’s classic Chinese garden.
The breakfast raised over RMB12,960 (about USD1,914) for the hospital, which treats patients with hemophilia.
On April 25, the hotel celebrated International Secretary’s Day by honoring the hard work of its secretaries. Gordon Xiong, the hotel’s general manager, invited all of the hotel’s secretaries to a special lunch at Café Xiu. After the lunch, Xiong presented the secretaries with flowers, thank you cards, and a special afternoon tea.
The month of CSR continued on April 26 with a visit from the hotel executive team to the hotel’s EMBRACE partner, the Yangzhou Chunlei Rehabilitation Center. After visiting with the volunteers and patients, the team arranged a special healthy lunch for everyone.
“Both the children and employees at the center had a great time together with our hotel volunteers,” said Rachel Yin, communications manager at the hotel.
To encourage healthy and active lifestyles, the hotel hosted a rope skipping competition on April 27. Sixty colleagues from eight departments participated individually as well as in teams of five. After fierce competition, individual colleagues from the housekeeping department won first place in the men’s division, and food and beverage department won in the women’s division. The food and beverage team won first place in the team division.
