Shangri-La Hotel, Fuzhou Turns EMBRACE Outing Into Future Career Opportunities
Since 2010, Shangri-La Hotel, Fuzhou has partnered with Mercy Field Home, which cares for children whose parents are incarcerated. Aiming to foster a nurturing environment in which the children can grow and learn, the hotel has worked with the organization to renovate the home’s dormitories and classrooms, and has instituted a tuition fund program for the older children so they can attend college.
Along with fostering a positive environment for the children, our hotel colleagues understand the importance of having a fun childhood. Shangri-La Hotel, Fuzhou put this into action when colleagues celebrated Children’s Day on June 1 with a visit to the Wax Museum
“The children had a wonderful time at the museum taking photos with the famous wax figures,” said Stephie Deng, communications manager at the hotel.
After the outing, the group enjoyed dim sum at the hotel’s Summer Palace. During the meal, our colleagues noticed the children taking interest in the cooking techniques, asking questions and engaging with colleagues. With that, Eric Mommejac, general manager at the hotel, decided to take the group on a tour of the kitchens. The tour made a special stop at the Chinese kitchen to introduce the executive Chinese chef, the facilities and equipment.
“We are family, and we must take care of each other,” Mommejac told the group. “We have looked after each other over the past years and will continue to do so in the future.”
Moving forward, the hotel will present career opportunities to the older children at Mercy Field Home to develop successful careers.
Congratulations to the team at Shangri-La Hotel, Fuzhou for the successful outing. We look forward to welcoming our new colleagues in the coming years.
