Shangri-La’s Far Eastern Plaza Hotel, Tainan Hosts Fourth Annual Vertical Run

On your marks, get set, run! On April 15, Shangri-La’s Far Eastern Plaza Hotel, Tainan hosted its fourth annual Tainan Run Up For Love vertical climb. Located in the city’s highest building, 700 participants from Taiwan, the United States, Japan, France and South Africa gathered to climb 798 steps (40 floors) to the top of the hotel.

This year, the hotel raised USD10,576 for the Taiwan Fund for Children and Families, contributing to a total of USD52,741 raised over the past four years. The funds will be donated to the Taiwan Fund for Children and Families, a nonprofit organization devoted to assisting children from low income families or high risk environments.

The event was made possible with the help of the city government, local fire bureau, police and hospital teams to ensure safety throughout the race.

“Planning months in advance, every colleague and volunteer worked tirelessly to guarantee a comfortable, memorable and safe experience for all participants,” said Doris Pu, communications manager at the hotel.

“Our sincere gratitude goes out to all the local government teams, the National Cheng Kung University Hospital medical staff, sponsors, and last but not least, the hotel colleagues who volunteered their own time to help complete this historical event for a good cause,” said Pu. “In true Shangri-La spirit, the hotel team focused their energy and, and together, made it to the top of Tainan!”

Congratulations to the participants and all the colleagues and volunteers who made the event possible.
