Hong Kong Colleagues Hike for Nature and Teach for the Future
February was a nature-filled month for our colleagues in Hong Kong! Recently, 60 Shangri-La colleagues from Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong, Kowloon Shangri-La, Hong Kong, Aberdeen Marina Club and Shangri-La Hotels International Management teamed up to fundraise and participate in the Green Power Hike held in Hong Kong.
The annual fundraising walkathon along the scenic Hong Kong Trail raises money for environmental education to teach children to protect, appreciate and respect nature.
Thirty-five colleagues from Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong led the initiative that raised about HKD 37,000 (about US $4,770) to be used for environmental education. The Green Power Hike has become one of the largest charitable hiking activities in Hong Kong, raising over HKD 6 million (about US $773,480) this year.
Colleagues from Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong continued their efforts to raise environmental awareness by spending an afternoon at Heep Hong Society in Hong Kong, a professional training and education center for children of different abilities and their families. Our colleagues played educational games with children of different abilities and taught them about the importance of environmental awareness. Through this initiative, our colleagues taught the children about protecting our environment and helped further develop their social skills and motor skills through crafts and games.
Thank you to our colleagues at Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong, Kowloon Shangri-La, Hong Kong, Aberdeen Marina Club and Shangri-La Hotels International Management for their efforts to inspire and teach the next generation to protect environment protection.
